Spectulation on how Orange climbed out.. Lesson to be learnt

Was really surprise by the comments some of you left behind... Never thought my blog will be read by others. On behalf of Orange I thank you all for your kind comments. One of the blogger-Veganmeow is right. Its a good idea to share with others how my window was meshed up so that other's can learn from my mistake..

This was how my window was meshed up for the past 1 year. You can see that the top of the grill was not covered. This kinda mesh can be purchase at any pet shop. Only comes in fix roll..

That morning Orange must had climbed over the meshed up window and out from the top of the loop that wasn't meshed up. Since he wasn't able to get a footing on the other side of the ledge. He fell.

After what happened to Orange, Mr Lim and I went out all the way to prevent such a incident from happening. We decided to buy a metal fence. We took the measurement of the whole window grill and bought them at one of the shop in Kelantan lane. It was expensive since we decided to choose a stainless steel one. But at least we don't have to worry about it getting rusty due to rain or moisture.

This is how window is being meshed up now with the stainless steel fence. Its quite simple. Only need to use cable tie to secure it.

Though its expensive but I definitely feel its way better than the previous mesh. Below is a summary of the pros and cons...

  • Stainless steel, won't get rust
  • Bigger holes provide better ventilation and light (yet little rascals won't be able to squeeze out)
  • Can be cut to size for better fit. Neater than the mesh which only comes in fix roll.

  • Expensive
  • Heavy

Hope today's blog will be a good resource for further or current cat owners. Anyone with other kinda mesh share with me okie! Will update on Orange's statue again next round...

Mummy Im getting better!

Orange looking macho knowing he's going to have his photo taken.

Sitting up for another pose and using his front paw to cover his belly due to loss of fur... *shy*

Sorry mummy know Im not suppose to climb... oops touchy sensitive word nowadays... I simply couldn't resist sleeping in this box... just have to climb up and sleep inside. ZzzZzz...

Mummy did you take a ruler and measure how long is it? I think I can removed the staples on my own leh.. then you can save a trip and money lo keke rite?

Cheeky Orange never fails to terrify Lala knowing now she's not use to his scent. Seeing Lala inside the wardrobe. That fellow purposely sit himself comfortably on the mat blocking Lala's exit!
Poor Lala start to panic at the sight of her "familiar yet unfamiliar enemy"

Lala frantically tries to escape past Orange while keeping her eyes on Orange. Orange on the other hand, remains aloof and gonk-out...

See see... beautiful daisy with heart-shaped get well soon attached. From Mummy's best pal Jo... who came to our house specially to visit me!! Did you know my heart race whenever I see her? She's so beautiful... keke.. looking at mei niu sure keeps the blues away for injured cat like me ;P

Flower ah for me is it?

Are you sure its for him not for me? what's a big boy doing with flower? so gay...

Feels so nice to be shower with love from mummy and daddy and mummy's sister and of course mummy's best pal... Flower smell nice and gonna sit close to it so Lala can't get a sniff of it haha...

Irony.. sad unfortunate incident

It took me days before I finally have the courage to type down this blog today. Was afraid to type this blog as I feared people might think or start to question my capability to care for my cats. Or worse... things might blown out of proportion.

My previous blog was about "everybody gets high" seems like the cat who got the highest was Orange. One morning while we were sleeping, he decided to be adventurous. He climbed over the meshed window and out of the top of the ledge that wasn't meshed. He fell straight down from the 6th storey. Woke up can't find him anywhere in the house. With Lala staring at the window meowing away, Mr Lim knew something was not right.

Orange was found sitting on the ground floor with small pool of blood. He was still conscious and alert. But breathing really fast.

Anyway to cut a long story short..
Was send to the emergency vet hospital
Found to have pneumothorax and fractured pelvis
Admitted for 1 week
Went through surgery for placement of metal plate for the fractured pelvis.

It has been a week since Orange came back from the hospital. Poor Lala was meowing and howling during the absence of Orange. Now that he's back, she couldn't recognise him due to a different scent. Lala was hissing at orange and fighting for our attention even more. Its better now... Lala is more use to him but I wonder if she remember he's the Orange she used to snuggle with... As for Orange, he maintain his cool and calm posture whenever Lala hiss. There is not a hint of fear when he walked into the same room with Lala or sit on his favourite spot. I guess it just take time for Lala to be more settle down with Orange.

Yes it was really a fortunate thing that Orange survived the fall. He's a really strong and brave boy.. Stronger than I thought. He's now walking as per normal and I know he will get stronger and better as days gone by. His staples will be removed soon this weekend. As time gone by his fur will soon be able to cover up the scars.

Yet this shall be a painful memory to stay with me for life. It was a painful price for us to learn this lesson. We had been having the window meshed up like that for the past 1 year and nothing had happened. We had thought it was enough. We would never expect Orange to climb over the mesh that morning. Anyway to all cat owner if you happen to bring this blog and you haven't mesh up your window or if its not properly mesh up please do so immediately...

The reason why I decided to write this blog cause It just don't seem right to omit this event and carry on writing my blog as if nothing had happened to them. To those who are reading this blog, perhaps you might think we are irresponsible. Ya I admitted we were. Everyone learn from their mistake and a 2nd chance. I am glad God has given me a 2nd chance to make things right for Orange...

Everybody gets HiGh...

It seems like everybody is getting high these days. Went back to my mother's house few days ago. Reached the front door and began to call out to my father to open the door. Afar came the tingling sound of the liong liong... Yeah along came my ah sky strolling towards me as a way of greeting! He sat in front of the gate staring at me and gave me a ~Meow... Hehe my sudden urge to go toilet to relieve my bladder gone... smitten by him... Never thought he will still remember to welcome me this way again...

The Previous time I went back home... Ah sky was angry with me. Perhaps he was upset I didn't visit him for a long time (vacation mah). So angry he was, he gave the the cold shoulder, refusing to see the presents I bought for him all the way from Japan. Ran and hid underneath the bed the whole day! Next time should take a pic of him with the gift I bought...

Nowadays been hearing my sister mentioning that Ah sky has a new hobby. I swear if he has a life insurance policy, the premium is sure to increase. He's taken a keen interest in climbing high. Perhaps he find it less challenging staring at the bird bird or doing his night guard duty watching out for lizards or cockroaches... as requested by my father.

According to my sister, they would suddenly find ah Sky MIA* then started to search for him... Sensing that he's being searched, he gave a ~meow from his new found favourite spot... he would stayed put in that favourite spot and start to panic when he wants to come down since its too high... ended up begging to be rescued by my sister! Hai... talk about being challenging :P

This is my sister's wardrobe. Just a ordinary one with few junk dumped on top of it. An ordinary furniture that became the adventure for ah sky for that day. Anyway can you spot him?

Yup he climbed up the wardrobe and stayed up there looking at us. His way of telling us: Nah Nah Ni boo boo.. you cannot catch me... My sister said to ignore him as he will beg for us to save him when he wants to come down. Of course I seize this opportunity to take photo since its not everyday I see him in such an act...

~Meow are you taking picture of me? come.. come closer so you can see where I am.. Look its such a chicken paw climbing up here.. Don't ask me how its a secret... Not gonna let Orange and Lala know the trick... (Bet u gonna tell them if I tell ya)

Love the space here... Must make use of this small corner here and mark it my territory before mama start to put more junk up here... Airy and quiet but a bit hard to lie down... Next time must try to bring my favourite mattress up here as well keke.. Oh ya do remember to mention to Orange and Lala that I climbed up the wardrobe leh... I bet I beat their record yeah yeah.. Im the champion!

Ah sky's not the only one polishing his climbing skill.. perhaps there's a upcoming climbing competition and they are practicing hard... knowing their act will be mention in this blog.. this way they can get to see who's the winner...

Lala: Mummy u see I climb up so high can win Big bro sky anot ah?

Mummy: Ah sky climbed up the wardrobe leh yours only fridge how can fight?

Lala: ah like that still not high enough? seems very high to me leh... err... I feel giddy already must come down already...

Lala: Oops how to come down help help mummy... Orangy a little help here pleeasee...

Orange(lying on the kitchen floor): Been there done that... Gave a lazy yawn... What a copycat! Can you try something new and not follow in my paw step?? Im gonna take my cat nap.

What climbing competition? So boring... How about we compete on who can eat the fastest haha I sure win.. or who has the longest tail.. Sky bro sure loose... Wah hahaha... erm... my tail longer than Lala rite? hmmm where's the ruler?

No parents days ahead Yipee...

Tonight the little rascals had a sumptuous dinner. Ocean fish wet food with one spoonful of biscuit each. Look at the both of them... busy enjoying their meal to be bothered with me..

Orange as usual finish his meal the 1st.

Orange seen here eyeing after Lala dish tray hopeful for a second helping... Nah Nah ni boo boo... I've still have you have none sing along our Princess Lala...

Dish tray was wiped clean with their tongue within 5mins... Lala: Don't have to check already lah u think im so dumb to leave some scraps for you meh... However our Orange is still full of hopes, inspects Lala's dish tray... Dismayed he was to find it was as clean as his!

Dinner was good tonight as mummy and daddy are going away for the holidays... Gonna miss the little rascals lots.. sob sob... Yup Im going to look for Totoro... Beautiful Day it was...

Beautiful day it was today so glad its already my post night off... Or rather yesterday keke... Looked out of the window and this was what I saw...Look at the beautiful blue sky... see that streak of cloud arch across the sky... its as if a plane just flew past leaving trail of its mark behind... I thought of my Ah Sky and I wonder if he was enjoyed the view like I did...
Princess Lala and Orange was up and early.. Looks that they are also enjoying the wonderful view as well!

Our Princess Lala sitting by the platform looking demure enjoying the view like me... and grooming herself as usual...

Hmmm.. Orange seen standing proud staring to the sky as well... Plotting a way to climb out of the window for a better view perhaps?

Naughty Orange strike again!

Looks like Orange is really dying for his chance to be mention in the blog... Therefore he felt that the instant way to immediate fame is to anger mummy!

Somehow I had brought home the remaining 2 coconut bun from my work place. God knows how come I've put them in my bag when I have a locker. Left the bun in a plastic bag, tied a knot and put it in my bag. Went off to LalaLand..

Woke up and found this on the floor...
As usual nobody saw what happen but whoever ate the bun was sure clever! Look closely at the picture again and you'll notice the most of the coconut filing had been eaten up! My gut feeling tells me its Orange. How did I know it was Orange?

Apparently the next day, he had a mild case of diarrhea. the fellow LS* and Mr Lim complained to me as he was the one who cleared up the litter box haha...

Well, what can I say, Orange sure gets his way. Not only he gets today's fame to the blog and also enjoyed a sumptuous coconut snack. I bet he even thinks LS was worth it all...

*Lao Sai (Hokkein for diarrhea)

Moments to share and ponder on

It's great to see the comments left by you all who read my blog. Thank Jo, now i know there's actually a name for that haha... and to ans your question, Yes I do babble silly stuff to Lala when I cuddle her like that.... haha perhaps Lala brings the maternal instinct in me...

As usual our princess Lala has fallen asleep on my lap now as Im typing out this blog. This spoiled brat seems to love taking advantage of me whenever Im using the pc or reading my book on the sofa.

I have a very good friend who is also a cat lover like me. She has a cat (ah moon) and a rabbit (Da xiong). It was a funny combination~ cat+rabbit. I am always amused with the story she told me of the both of them. Like how ah moon loves to pounce on poor da xiong or how da xiong would drink from ah moon's dishwater resulting in the latter having to search for water source in the toilet.. despite all these they are still happily cohabiting in a cosy house...

Sadly da xiong passed away due to old age sometime this yr or last yr (sorry can't rem clearly)... Got to hear from my friend when I met her up recently. Da xiong was found in the kitchen by her brother. Poor ah moon looked solemnly at Da xiong. It was heartbreaking hearing her describe the days after da xiong is gone. Poor ah moon linger around the kitchen sitting there staring into space as if moaning for the loss of a long time friend. Though I was not a rabbit lover, hearing my friend recall the event brings tears to my eyes. I could imagine the loneliness ah moon felt having to lose a friend and also the pain my friend has to go through for the lost of her dear rabbit.

I guess this is something all pet owner dread most. The day our pets leave us for the kingdom of heaven and the living would have to adapt to the one gone... I simply could not imagine what my live would be should this day comes. Yet it is inevitable. Recently S.H.E Ella sung a song over the loss of her dog Qiang Qiang. In the song, she recalls of how Qiang Qiang loved to be stroke over the ears and always asking her to play ball. She thanked her dog the years of company and hopes that her dog will remember her and quickly find his way to Heaven. I cried when I heard it. Ya hard to believe the usual me who hardly cry in front of soppy drama actually shed tear for this song... I guess it remind me of Da xiong and Ah moon. Just like what the song says. They will always be living in our memories..

Well, toady's blog is specially dedicated to Da Xiong~ May you be happy whenever you are... You will live in the memories of those who misses you dearly... Ah moon included Im sure...

Simple steps to make a contented cat

Materials required are as follows...
A quilt blanket folded into a triangular shape
A super duper 100% manja cat!

Place the super duper 100% manja cat onto the centre of the blanket. Make sure tail is nicely tuck in line with the couture of the body. Not a major issue for short tail cat though.. (A lot of times this action is not require as super duper 100% manja cats voluntarily crawl onto the blanket.)

Fold the bottom pointed part of the triangle upwards to start the wrapping as shown in the pic.

Fold the left side of the pointed triangle over the to right side. Take note of the head. Do not cover it. Tuck the ends inwards the cat's body. Do the same for the right side.

And viola...

You've got a nicely wrapped up cat! Word of cautious: super duper 100% manja cat will start exhibiting uncontrollable vibrations.

And there you have... a very contented and happy cat drifting to LalaLand anything soon.

Calafare for today... Orange the Kapok Samy :-P

Ehh... today never talk about me ah? When's my turn ah?

Sally the basket complains

My name is Sally. I was made to be a basket meant for pet use. Mummy and daddy bought me from Ikea cause I was cheap. I was placed strategically by the window in the master bedroom. Nice view there with sunlight shinning at every part of my body.

Got to know little orange 1st. Look at that boy... he used to spent his afternoon nap with me in his young days. Nowadays he hardly come by....

Ever since princess Lala came along... Life has been miserable...Look at me now. (Hysterical crying)Sob Sob Sob... Look at the woven basket bits on the floor. Somebody been abusing me!!

Ya that's her Im talking about! Small and sweet looking on the outside but full of mischievous thoughts on the inside. She would spent her afternoon sitting on me and start to chew happily as if Im one of her treats.... Mummy thought she was going through the "teething phrase" Ha!! As if!! They ignore it... Overheard a conversation b/w mummy and daddy once:

Daddy:"Aiya buy this basket for them see they keep bitting it. make the floor so messy!

Mummy: Aiya what to do? Since bed is theirs they are free to do what they want with it.

Can you believe it! I was crying buckets of wooden chips hearing that! No mention of how heartache the rascals are damaging me! Worse they are only concern my spare parts are messing up the place. Boo hoo...

Lala would act all sweet and nice towards me when Mummy and Daddy are staring at her. Pretending to clean herself and curl up... If only they know how I feel... What can I do? Can anyone save me from further destruction?
Miserable Sally...

Careless me = disasterous consequences

Monday morning 0700hrs. This was the scene that greeted Mr Lim as he walked towards the kitchen. In case those of you who can't figure out the picture. Its actually loose rice grain scattered nicely all over the floor. Like the leftover rice grain in a warehouse. Only this is not the case. I was the cause of the incident. Had forgotten to put the packet of rice grain into the cabinet yesterday. Luckily I was not reprimanded by Mr Lim strongly as he was busy preparing to go to work and I have instantly offered my service to clear up the mess stat.

So who was the culprit?? Was it Orange on the Left or Lala?? Only thing certain was crime was definitely done while the both of us were sound asleep! Both maintained a safe perimeter from the crime scene not wanting to have anything to do with it... as if proclaiming their innocent.

Had to use my bare hands to gather all the rice grain together... my mind suddenly drifted to the importance of rice and how we should not waste them... haha... meanwhile Lala decided toapproached with cautious towards me trying to kepok if there's anything to help out with (or play). Gave her a "can melt an ice berg on a summer's day" look and she back off immediately.

Smart Orange acted aloof sitting far one corner pretending to look elsewhere when I look at his directions
While I was cleaning up the mess, grumpy Mr Lim carried on with his routine and grumbling away:
"The two of you really very naughty
Lala must be the culprit, must be her... always like to bite things
when will she grow up
must discipline her properly!
making people doing extra work... see lah mummy have to clear up the mess
bet you all had disco yesterday night.
Gonna lock you up in the room when I come back in the evening."

This was the packet of rice grain under their their paws and teeth...

No wonder the both of them seems so quiet now... sleeping. Perhaps Mr Lim is right. They did have a disco last night. Really played hard...ZzzzZzzz
