Sand VS Pine

After much constructive feedback (complain) from Mr Lim of the smell of the pine when mixed with the little rascals' urine, we decided to give cat sand a try. Bought one pack that comes in 8L to try. This sand clumps into a lump once contact with urine. The packaging looks really cut haha. It comes with lemon scent and it said to keep odour at bay with 9.99% dust free as stated on the pack. With anticipation, we poured the sand into the litter box while the little rascals await beside us.
Leaving up to its reputation for being adventerous, Orange decided to give the new litter scoop a sniff while Lala linger behind. Wasting no time in marking his territory, Orange walked into the litter box and does his business.

Lala finally realising that its harmless, comes out and wait outside the litter box. Impatiently wating for her turn and having to endure the wonderful hot fresh odour of Orange's output keke...

Mummy, Orange is taking his own sweet time! I can't stand the sight and smell... feeling giddy now somebody bring me the axe oil! gosh what did he eat men!! are u sure its lemon scented sure aren't smelling any lemon!

Lala: come out leh my turn my turn!!

Orange: what's the rush men! A man gotta freedom to answer his call of nature without you nagging away...

Great! its all his smell now... its like a mine field... must walk properly to avoid stepping on his smelling waste...

Ahh I found a spot here perfect...

Wooo... So great to be able to relieve myself.. holding my blabber for whole day for this moment has been worth it.. Hey what doing u? Are are u taking picture of me? (its really a great shot! did u see the jet of urine? Mr Lim says Im a pervert!)

Its been a few days since we started on the sand. Now we realise Orange is the messy toilet user... Boys will be boys.. He will be the one who scatters the sand everywhere outside the litter box as he comes out just like Mr Lim who... kaka... better stop my description here...

Its great not to hear Mr Lim constant nagging about the foul smell of wet pine. Changing the litterbox seems faster when compared to pine. However now the kitchen seems to be fill with a light stench of feaces smell at the moment smell has slowly radiate to living room... Also I do not like having the sand scattered all over the floor..

I personally still like the pine better as they don't get scattered so easily. Otherwise than having to endure the smell of the wet pine (not really a problem for me execpt u know who!) when changing, I don't smell anything when the little rascals feaces are left inside for long. Also find the pine able to control odour and does not smell anything when not changing it... Also I have a terrible thought that one day the little rascals might decide to use the clamped up sand (shape like ball) as a new toy to play around the house... horrors!

Now, Mr Lim starts to feel that the smell of wet pine is better than having the house fill with smell of feaces. Can't be having that kinda of smell when guest come to our house during CYN... Well, looks like its back to pine for us in the end.. As for the little rascals I guess it won't affect them much...

Orange the survivor!

Hey more update of me again.. Heh heh... LOvE being the limelight.. especially when Im not even working hard to get it.. hai what can I say.. *they SiMpLy adore me...
(Pic taken today)

*Read that twice to ah sky hehe...

Orange went for his surgery to remove his metal plates and screws two days ago on the 15th. This time we had a really really hard time coaxing him into the carrier. Had to practically forced him into it. Guess he's finally linked the carrier with trips to clinic hence the fear and resistance. After a few words with the Dr Dennis... I left orange in the hospital with a heavy heart.

Surgery won't be so invasive as compared to the previous one. Another incision will be made, fur will be shave again. Reliving of the scary experience once again. By 8pm that evening we brought a groggy but alert orange home. On the way home in the car, Orange started to get really restless kept using his head to bang against the metal door of the carrier. Fearing he will hurt himself, I had no choice but to let him out and carry him on my lap. He looking frantically at the interior of the car environment and at the same time distracted by the moving motor vehicles outside.

As usual, we arrived home with our princess Lala not aware that her bro orange had just came back from surgery. She hid under the table looked wearily at Orange who was walked wobbly towards the living room. She did what she does always when felt threaten~ Hiss... then ran away... Its all back to square one.. I was telling Mr Lim. Just have to isolate Orange in a room for few days.

Lucky its not as bad as we predicted. This time our Lala managed to remember the scent of Orange and by next day, they are back to normal. Orange was also surprisingly was walking, running and standing on two hind legs as per normal. Its as if he didn't go through the surgery. My best pal who came to our house yesterday didn't even realise he had gone through the surgery the day before! I must say their healing ability is simply amazing! If only humans have such healing ability, we'll be able to shorten the hospitalization stay and not face shortage of bed so often...

Exhausted Orange asleep on one of his favourite spot the next day after the surgery.
Many thanks to Dr Dennis from mount pleasant animal hospital for his excellent surgical skill and patience with my many many questions.

He even remembered to returned me the metal plates and screws like I requested. I shall keep them as remembrance for the pain and suffering Orange had gone through due to our negligence.

Today was such a sunny day. The little rascals are sleeping together as Im typing this blog. It rare to catch them sleeping together and I waste no time in capturing it!
Seeing them snoozing away side by side was a rare sight on a hot sunny afternoon by the window... Perfect bonding for the little rascals.. Tender sweet moment for me to remember why I love them!
Seems like our Princess Lala also has a soft spot for her brother not all the usual spoil brat... She doesn't seems to mind Orange taking advantage of her by placing his leg on her body. Three cheers for Lala... Yeah!!

Orange and Lala cuddled onto Sally the basket, dozing off..

Oh ya, take a closer look at Sally the basket.. condition not getting better this days.. and the little rascal are sure working hard on it..

Orange update so far...

Orange's on my lap tonight as Im typing out my blog... where is Lala aka the manja princess u might be thinking... Princess Lala currently sitting comfortably beside Mr Lim on the bed..purring as Mr Lim puts his fingers to good exercise haha if you know what I mean....

Orange's wound has healed nicely. Managed to save few $ by removing the staples on my own. Orange was such a good boy sitting there nicely for me to remove them... As the wound healed, I start to feel that the metal plate getting more prominent. My fear came true after a repeated xray during the 2nd review

Bought Orange for his 2nd review on the 29th dec. Here inside the carrier while waiting the the vet, I bet Orange was reminiscing what happened to him that day... He looked nervous

This was the xray taken after the surgery. You can see the metal plate screwed onto the Lt pelvic bone to stabilise the fracture.

And this was the xray taken during the 2nd review last week. You can see the top part of the metal plate has become detached from the pelvic bone. The 1st screw had loosen completely followed by soon to be 2nd screw...

This was my fear. The prominent part was due to the loosening of the metal plate and screw. The vet commented that Orange will have to go for another surgery to remove the whole metal plate. Loose metal plate will cause friction and perhaps pain when moving joint so its best to remove.

My heart ache for Orange having to go through another surgery again. Only want the best for him therefore this 2nd surgery is inevitable. Now that his fur are slowly growing out covering the wound my heart sank as I know that in a week's time they would be shave off and he's gonna come home with a new scar. At least this time he will be able to come back on the same day of the surgery.. Gonna have to give him TLC when he comes back.

Orange Orange my little warrior, handsome prince with bright yellow eyes... Mummy will be there with you don't you worry okie..

Lala, Lala, don't you be jealous of Orange okie.. Mummy loves you too... so you must be nice girl okie don't be so playful and disturb him when he comes back...
